Pilar cysts are common, benign growths that commonly occur on the scalp. These are usually asymptomatic, but can occasionally be tender.
Removal of these cysts is very simple. The area is numbed with a needle and cleansed. A linear incision is made and the cyst is removed. The wound is sutured closed. The entire procedure takes less than 10 minutes.
