Laser Hair Removal: how to get rid of unwanted hair without damaging your skin.

There are so many devices that can reduce unwanted hair. Which is the best? Which is the most comfortable?

In short, there is no single best device for everyone. For dark-skinned individuals, the Nd:YAG is the safest. For others, there are many options, but in most cases, lasers are more effective than intense pulsed light (IPL) devices.

While most devices are safe when used on the correct skin color with the correct settings, results will vary greatly. In our office, we offer fast and fairly comfortable treatments performed by Dr. Robert Bader or Daisy Fisher, FNP-BC so you can be sure that you are receiving the best treatment possible. We can treat most skin types, with the exception of the darkest skin that requires a Nd:YAG.

All devices work similarly in that they shoot a light into the skin, that heats up the hair, which damages the hair follicle. When this occurs, the follicle gets hot, which can be uncomfortable. Our device has a cooling tip to increase patient comfort in addition to having the option to pulse stack–sends many quick pulses instead of one giant pulse, making the treatment more comfortable.

Hairs that are in the growth phase respond to the treatment. At any given time, most hairs are NOT in the growth phase, which is why many treatment sessions are needed. In general, one must have 6-8 treatments in the first year and then occasional touch-ups thereafter.

Our office is located in Deerfield Beach, between Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach.
