Body Sculpting

Look Like You — Just More Defined

Diet and exercise can only take your body so far. Stubborn pockets of fat in the abdomen, flanks, thighs, arms, and chin often resist even the most disciplined routines. Our body sculpting program offers a range of proven, physician-guided treatments — from non-invasive fat reduction to traditional surgical liposuction — so we can match the right technology to your goals, your anatomy, and your timeline.

Featured Treatment: TruSculpt iD

Our most requested non-surgical body contouring treatment.

truSculpt iD uses monopolar radiofrequency (RF) energy to heat fat cells beneath the skin to a temperature that triggers natural cell death (apoptosis). The body then clears these fat cells through its lymphatic system over the following weeks — permanently reducing fat in the treated area.

Why patients choose truSculpt iD:

  • No needles, no incisions, no downtime. Walk in, walk out, return to your day immediately.
  • Customizable. Treatment intensity and depth are tailored in real time to your body composition, so larger or smaller areas can be treated effectively.
  • Treats more area, faster. A single session can address larger zones — abdomen, flanks, back, thighs, arms — in roughly 15 to 30 minutes per area. Up to six palm sizes areas can be treated in a single 15-20 minute session.
  • Skin tightening built in. The same RF energy that targets fat also stimulates collagen, giving mild to moderate skin tightening as a secondary benefit.
  • Proven and FDA-cleared for fat reduction in multiple body areas.

What to expect: Most patients describe a warming, massage-like sensation during treatment. Results build gradually over 8 to 12 weeks as the body clears treated fat cells, with continued improvement for up to 3 months. Many patients see meaningful change after a single session; some areas benefit from a second treatment for optimal results.

Best for: Patients near a healthy weight who have localized fat pockets and want a no-downtime option with a flexible treatment plan.

Other Body Sculpting Options

Not every body, goal, or timeline calls for the same approach. Here's how truSculpt iD compares to other treatments we offer or commonly discuss with patients.

Liposuction (Surgical)

The gold standard for significant, precise fat removal. A cannula is used to suction fat directly from beneath the skin under local or general anesthesia.

  • Pros: Removes the largest volume of fat in a single procedure; results are immediate (once swelling resolves) and highly precise; ideal for shaping and contouring multiple areas in one session.
  • Cons: Requires anesthesia, incisions, and a recovery period (typically 1–2 weeks before returning to normal activity, with swelling persisting longer); higher upfront cost; carries surgical risks.
  • Best for: Patients seeking dramatic, immediate fat removal across larger areas, or those who haven't achieved their goals with non-invasive options.

Cryolipolysis (Fat Freezing)

Cryolipolysis uses controlled cooling to crystallize and destroy fat cells, which the body then naturally eliminates. This is the technology most widely known by brand names like CoolSculpting.

  • Pros: Non-invasive, no needles or incisions, minimal downtime, well-established track record with over a decade of clinical use.
  • Cons: Treats one area at a time with applicators that must conform to the body's shape, which can limit which areas are treatable; results take 1–3 months to appear; some patients report temporary numbness or, rarely, a paradoxical increase in fat cells (paradoxical adipose hyperplasia) in the treated area. Treatments take considerably longer than TruSculpt. Treatments are highly dependent upon the correct use of the device. Improper use significantly increases the risk of side effects and/or decreased the efficacy of the treatments.
  • Best for: Patients with pinchable fat in classic applicator-friendly zones (flanks, abdomen, inner thighs, under the chin) who want a long-established non-surgical option.

Laser Lipolysis (e.g., SculpSure)

Uses targeted laser energy to heat and destroy fat cells, similar in concept to RF treatments but using light instead of radiofrequency.

  • Pros: No downtime; sessions are typically 25 minutes; can treat certain areas without direct skin contact constraints.
  • Cons: Generally treats smaller, more defined areas per session compared to RF; multiple sessions are often needed for optimal results.
  • Best for: Patients targeting smaller, well-defined trouble spots like the abdomen or flanks.

Deoxycholic Acid Injections (e.g., Kybella)

An injectable treatment, most commonly used to reduce submental fat ("double chin"). The active ingredient breaks down fat cell membranes at the injection site.

  • Pros: No surgery or general anesthesia; precise for small, specific areas.
  • Cons: Requires multiple treatment sessions spaced weeks apart; swelling and bruising at the injection site are common for several days; not suited for large-volume fat reduction.
  • Best for: Submental fullness ("double chin") or other small, isolated pockets unsuited to surgery or device-based treatments.

Muscle Sculpting Devices (e.g., Emsculpt NEO)

A different category altogether — these devices use electromagnetic energy (sometimes combined with RF to reduce fat) to induce intense muscle contractions, building muscle while some also reduce fat.

  • Pros: No downtime; addresses muscle tone in addition to (or instead of) fat, which other treatments don't do.
  • Cons: Fat reduction, when included, is typically more modest than fat-targeted treatments; multiple sessions required.
  • Best for: Thin and fit patients who want core or glute toning alongside "some" fat reduction, rather than fat reduction alone. For those wishing to see abdominal muscles, one must have very little fat present.

How We Help You Choose

There's no single "best" treatment — only the best treatment for your anatomy, goals, and lifestyle. During your consultation, we'll evaluate:

  • The amount and location of fat you want addressed
  • Your skin's elasticity and whether tightening is also a goal
  • How much downtime you're able or willing to accommodate
  • Whether you're a candidate for a single treatment or a treatment series

Many patients combine approaches — for example, surgical liposuction for larger volume reduction, followed by truSculpt iD for refinement and skin tightening in surrounding areas.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is body sculpting the same as weight loss? No. These treatments reduce localized pockets of fat in specific areas; they are not weight-loss solutions and work best for patients already near a stable, healthy weight.

How many sessions will I need? This varies by treatment and treatment area. Non-invasive options like truSculpt iD often deliver visible results from a single session, though some areas benefit from a second or even a third treatment. Cryolipolysis, laser lipolysis, and Kybella typically require multiple sessions.

Are results permanent? The fat cells destroyed by these treatments do not return. However, remaining fat cells can still expand with significant weight gain, so maintaining a stable weight helps preserve results.

Is there downtime? truSculpt iD, cryolipolysis, laser lipolysis, and Kybella all involve little to no downtime. Surgical liposuction requires a more significant recovery period.
